Title: The Last Dragonslayer
Author: Jasper Fforde
Date completed: 12 August 2016
While classified as young adult, I would probably file this under juvenile fiction. The story was cute with an ending that wrapped it up nicely. I originally liked the main character, Jennifer Strange, who was an orphan that worked hard and was good at heart. But the sudden thrust into the dragonslayer role without any training except for a quick magical dump of knowledge took away the "coming-of-age" aspect that I enjoy from most young adult novels. Fforde also seemed to dabble in Douglas Adams style of coincidental humor, but it fell a bit short of making me laugh. I don't think I'll be pursuing the sequels.
