I'm sure I've said it before on this blog, but students of history seem to just be doomed to watch history repeat and rhyme over the centuries. This article could have been published in a newspaper today from the "they're taking our jobs and the crime rates will go up" right down to the "my grandparents were the special hard-working kind of immigrant unlike today's immigrants." The ironic thing is that quite a few of those opposed to immigration in 2018 are saying the same things that were said to their own immigrant ancestors about 100 years ago.
