Re-introducing New Foods

Spring is in the air more day-by-day (at least from a pollen standpoint if not the temperature)! I have been loving the slightly longer days and all the buds and blooms of early spring.
Even the chickens are feeling the upcoming season. Mildred started laying for us this week. First she tried to sneak one in the garage while I was cleaning the coop, but she eventually got her turn in everyone's favorite nesting box.
This past week we tried a 2 new things in the diet. Great for Nathan, not so good for me. Turns out the tannins in green tea give me nausea and beef gave me heartburn, cramps, bloating and constipation. Sounds like a pepto bismo commercial waiting to happen. Both of these can probably be added back very slowly at some point to help my body produce the right enzymes to process both, but for now I'll mostly be staying away from them until the rest of the re-introductions are over. Sad face.
While tea and steak didn't go over so well, I'm still thrilled to have eggs again. Means we can pull out our paleo baking book and continue trying out new recipes. One delicious thing we had this past week without issue was WAFFLES! They were so good for our weekend breakfasts. Will repeat again soon!

Also, this snarky magnet made us giggle at the bookstore as it kinda-sorta captures the elimination diet pretty well. Except I'm subsisting off of hummus and carrots. Ha!

Speaking of carrots, Nathan brought home some gorgeous "purple haze" carrots this past weekend. They are not only beautiful to behold, but tasty to boot!

At work, I'm in the middle of creating metadata for the old Main library photograph collection. It's been my primary project that last couple of weeks and I'm hoping I can get close to finishing this week.

One highlight from work last week was my fall intern Sarah dropped by! Per usual she brought the party and fun with her. She handed out Mardi Gras beads and brought king cake for us to enjoy. My desk chickens and mouse got into the festive spirit.
Sunday afternoon Nathan and I were able to take advantage of one of my Christmas presents to attend the Greenville Symphony--Strauss Squared. The first part was Richard Strauss's 'A Hero's Life' and the second half was a compilation of Johann Strauss II's waltzes, polkas, and a galop. Wonderful entertainment on a rainy day.

To close I'll leave you with a photo of Daisy bemoaning the fact that cold weather is forecast this week.
