Before and after sinusitis

Last week wiped me out with, best I can tell, a sinus infection. Doctor was thinking it was viral, I was thinking bacterial. Hit it with home remedies for 5 days without success, so got some meds to help my immune system kick it. Made a very delicious chicken soup from scratch with our own veggies and herbs. Nathan brought home a funny tissue box for my amusement, and Daisy was a constant companion. Thankfully I'm on the mend this week!

A few days before the illness caught up to me, we ventured out to the Organic Cat Cafe over in the West End and made friends with kitties and played a very uncoordinated game of ping pong. They were some of the most chill cats I have ever hung out with.

The annual family bake off was this past Sunday and last year's champion set the theme of looks like or incorporates a savory food/ingredient. Lots of fun entries! The Farmer and I made colonial hot chocolate that used a bit of cayenne pepper.

On the home front, molting season has begun! Poor Elsie lost all her butt feathers first and is looking pretty rough and has an extra dose of attitude. I don't know how many times she has pecked my boots or pinched my pant legs in the last week! With molting season (and the resulting decrease in egg production), we are very excited to have miss Ethel bringing us cute blue pullet eggs. Hopefully the other two young'uns will start laying soon! The cooler weather kicking off molting season had Daisy begging for her first sweater of the season. I think she might be ready for hygge.

Lastly, spotted this beautiful morning glory popping out of a crack along the sidewalk. Bloom where you're planted, I suppose. :-) Have a great week!
