Farewell Lucy

Had to say farewell to Lucy, one of my first chickens, last week. She died peacefully in her sleep after a spoiled life. She had been slowing down for a couple months and had recently begun sleeping most of the day in random places. She took her last nap in the nesting box with her feathered family hanging out with her all day laying eggs next to her.
But there is also new life growing on the homestead. We candled Elsie’s eggs and all but one was viable. Unfortunately, she accidentally broke another one the next day, but there should still be 7 good eggs under her!

Tux spent the night with us last weekend and got a spontaneous haircut. Apparently camera shy afterwards...

While we had roaring success with garlic this year...the beets not so much. We only had a handful mature...but boy were they gorgeous!

We decided to get a state park pass again this year as it’s a great socially-distanced way to be active. We’ve enjoyed 3 hikes at Paris Mountain and look forward to exploring more of their trails. Spotted this cute stand of shrooms in the parking lot of all places.

Quarantine life the last 2 months as allowed us ample time to finish all the puzzles we had on hand. Who knew that the fish would be harder to assemble than the water!?
