November Rearview Mirror

In an effort to incorporate more analog elements into our daily lives, I haven't spent as much time "documenting" daily life for more regular blog updates. That being said, we'd have some fun building a shelter for the chicken feeder, planting garlic, herbs, tasting new foods, and enjoying the fall scenery. Here's a montage of the last month in the rearview mirror.

Pumpkin-based fall minestrone soup turned out way better than we anticipated! Got the Farmer to willing eat cauliflower by hiding it in pizza crust. Mwhaha! Found a gluten-free biscuit recipe that is the best one we've tried yet! Made my classic tuscan soup for one of hte chilly weeks. Roasted the last of the quail I helped skin and gut.

Free pallets, plywood scrap, and leftover shingles enabled us to make a better cover for our chicken feeders for the coming winter rains. The chickens approve, and even try to cram underneath on wet days.

We were blessed with an extended fall and the leaves were especially gorgeous this year. Most of them have blown away now. Until next year!

In addition to planting our own personal garlic, we helped a fellow farmer out by planting 3 100 ft rows of garlic earlier this month. Can't wait to add flavor to our soups and other recipes with our own garlic come spring!

We planted our cold frame with herbs and a few volunteer kale. Accidental vortex photo came out pretty cool!

We surprised my youngest sister-in-law with an exam survival kit.

One of my co-workers wanted to turn our "creepy santa" into a biker dude. I helped with the bandana and flames. Haha!

And lastly, after initial success, the burlap bowtie sales dropped to almost nothing. I was excited after one market in November that one of them finally sold...then I learned it was for their dog...hahaha oh well!
