Recognizable Walk

Know how you can often know who's walking through the house by the sound of their footfall? Or the distinct walk of that one friend you can spot a mile away? The way we walk is identifiable; it says something about us. Are we stomping in rage? Tiptoeing in secrecy? Dancing with grace? Running to action? Dragging our feet? Thinking through metaphors from this morning's reading in 2 John 6, there is a manner of walking, a gait, a rhythm, a stride that is obviously Christian. The sound of our footsteps should be recognizably Christ-like. How we move, act, and live in the world says much about who taught us to walk--do our steps speak of love?
Lord, teach us the steps, keep our feet from stumbling, and the path from tripping.
