Saturday afternoon the Farmer and I decided to getaway for a bit after the rain and clouds cleared up on Sunday. On a whim, we drove up to Carl Sandburg's final home--Connemara--in Flat Rock, NC. The colors were just starting to take over the mountainsides on the drive up. Next week or two and it will be prime leaf peeping!

We decided to skip the house tour this visit and just explore the outdoors. During our visit at the goat dairy, one of the employees recommended the Glassy Mountain trail for its great views. 20 minute hike she said. Ha! turns out that trail was the most rigorous one the estate! To quote Lillian Sandburg: "at least of mile of real climbing." No joke, our legs are SORE. The colors were beautiful all along the trail as the sun slowly sank in the sky.
